November 2007 - April 2007 Ward Civil - The Village, Balgowlah Involved the installation of 500 metres of 375mm RCP stormwater pipe, which was laid to service the new development in Balgowlah. Works included laying 600mm stormwater pipe and constructing insitu pits along Condamine Street, including delineation of works, traffic control, saw cutting and removal of concrete pavement, supply and installation of pipes, pits, lids, and grates. Service location, road plate road crossings, and connections to existing stormwater system. The smaller pipes were laid within the site, including 115 metres running at the top of a 35 metre sheer vertical wall which required stringent safety standards to install. Access / egress plans and material handling proceedures were devised with the client and implemented sucessfully. A 25 metre section of 375mm welded PE pipe was hung from an internal carpark ceiling 4.5 metres above floor level using scissor lifts. This pipe section was not linear and bends were manufactured on site and cradles designed and bolted to the ceiling to support pipework. Works undertaken for Sydney Water. October 2007 - January 2007 BMD Constructions Pty Ltd - Kurnell Involved the excavation and installation of 375mm diameter sewer, the excavation and installation of 375mm to 750mm diameter stormwater, and the excavation and installation of 150mm to 375mm diameter water main. - Excavate and lay approximately 41 meters of DN200 DICL class K12 with concrete encasing
- Install required bends, valves, and hydrants
- Service connections of 450 x 200 hot tap and 375 x 200 hot tap
- Plant required to undertake works include excavators, backhoe / skid-steer loaders, and tipper.
September 2006 - December 2007 Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd - T-Way Windsor Road, Kellyville Involved the installation of 3km of various size stormwater from 300mm to 1200mm diameter reinforced concrete and FRC stormwater pipes and the installation of 6km of shared trench, transmission conduits, LV conduits, subducts, and roping. This project also involved the installation of light pole footings and conduits for street lighting, installation of precast pits, gross pollutant traps, headwalls, and subsoil drains Works undertaken behind segregated works area along Windsor Road and Sunnyholt Road. NACE Civil Engineering Pty Ltd - Prince Henry Hospital, Little Bay Involved the installation of approximately 6.5km of stormwater, varying in size from 225mm to 2 metre diameter, including catchpits. This project also included the installation of approximately 6km of Telstra conduit, approximately 5.5km of Energy Australia conduit, and the installation of sub-soil drainage and various other water diversion, groundwork, and site preparation work. BCC Networks Alliance - Heathcote National Park The existing DN450 DICL main in Heathcote National Park was found to have deteriorated due to sewer gas retention within the main. The pipeline had to be kept online for the replacement process. A 200 metre PE bypass main was constructed and cut in under pump station shutdowns, which diverted flow for the process of exhume and relay to occur. The DICL pipe was replaced with PVC pipe. 4060 metres of pipeline was upgraded. A corridor was cleared and works undertaken, and then stringent bush regeneration and management was implemented. Killard Excavation Pty Ltd employees were trained to an asset isolation plan (which was developed by Killard Excavation) and shut down two pump stations for each bypass transfer. Scope of works included: - Set-up of 200 meter by-pass PE piping arrangement to facilitate exhume and lay
- Exhume existing 450mm DICL sewer main and lay approximately 2700 meters of DN450 mPVC / DN600 GRP PN 16 sewer rising main and install valves and other associated structures
- Remove existing air / scour valves
- Connect SPS 589 to newly lain SRM
- Remove existing DN300 vent stack and install a new vent shaft including DN150 uPUV vent line from air valve chamber to vent shack
BCV Networks Alliance - Heathcote The works involved the shutdown of pump units to enable the connection of sewer by the Heathcote Sewer Project. This entailed undertaking the exhumation and relaying of existing DICL sewermain due to severe corrosion by acids contained in sewerage. This required shutting down pump stations initially and installing a 200 metre length bypass connection to facilitate the works. Once one section of the pipe was exhumed and re-laid as PVC the pump stations were shut down and the bypass moved to the next section. The shut down of pump units required the creation and implementation of an asset isolation plan, which included the creation of a flow management plan. The asset isolation / flow management plan encompassed a contingency plan to handle any possible risks to the successful completion of works, and a hazard / risk management plan to ensure the safety of employees, the environment, and customers during works.
